Sandwell Council Appoints AFI As A Preferred Training Supplier

U AFI has become a preferred supplier to Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council in the West Midlands to provide a wide range of safety training for council employees.

Following its success in winning the tender, AFI is initially providing New Road and Street Works Act (NRSWA) training and Abrasive Wheels training for the council.

Other training that AFI may be asked to provide for employees in the Council’s workforce of 8,000 includes IPAF and PASMA working at height training, IOSH, NEBOSH and Manual Handling training. The training will be carried out throughout 2014 at AFI’s new Midlands Training Centre and also on Sandwell Council sites and premises.

AFI’s appointment as a preferred supplier follows a decision by Sandwell Council to consolidate its training activities and providers. Sandwell Council Leader Councillor Darren Cooper said: “We take safety at work very seriously and this contract will ensure we meet our responsibilities in a cost effective and efficient way.”

During 2013, AFI trained over 16,500 delegates. Out of that, over 8,500 were accreditations in IPAF training and over 3,000 were issued PASMA cards.
