UK First For Costain

Costain has become the first construction company in the UK to achieve BS11000 status.

Being awarded the British Standard for Collaborative Business Relationship Management Systems, means that an organisation has demonstrated that it accurately assesses both itself and potential partners in terms not just of technical attributes but cultural ‘fit’.

Costain’s longstanding ‘team player’ approach to doing business with companies made it an ideal candidate for the standard, which was only introduced in autumn 2010.

Shortlisted bidders for the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project

London Underground (LU) announced the four bidding groups who have been shortlisted to go through the new Innovative Contractor Engagement (ICE) procurement process for the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project.

The Bank and Monument Tube station complex is located in the heart of the City of London financial district and is the fourth busiest interchange station on the Underground network with 96,000 customers during the morning rush hours, which is set to increase.

Manitowoc to sell Potain cranes direct to UK customers

Manitowoc announced it will sell Potain top-slewing cranes direct to customers in the UK market. The agreement covers all cranes in the manufacturer’s MD top-slewing, MDT topless, MCT topless city and MR luffing jib ranges. Manitowoc will serve the UK market from its centrally-located offices in Gawcott, just outside Buckingham.

Steve Barnett, managing director for Manitowoc in the UK, said the new arrangement brings greater resources to the UK market.
